As leaders, we need to show up and be there for our teams more than ever before.
Your team is likely confused and anxious, so check in with them and address their concerns!
Additionally, there are a number of tools you can implement to make sure the team stays engaged, enthusiastic, and productive as they transition to temporary remote work.
Here are three of our favourite tools…
1. For “Face-to-Face” Video Meetings
Nothing can replace the power of face-to-face meetings, but video conferencing comes close. We like to use Zoom for video meetings with our teams as well as for hosting online training sessions.
Seeing the faces of your team members in real-time will help fight the feeling of isolation they’re likely to feel as they shift from bustling offices to their home desks.
2. For Regular Digital Check-Ins
The fastest way to get the information to you in an office is to walk over to someone’s desk. This is a little bit harder to do with a remote team. With cluttered inboxes, email isn’t the way to go to get information fast. We prefer messaging platforms like Slack.
Slack enables us to check in with our team regularly, quickly, and efficiently thanks to all the platforms it integrates with (like Google Drive)!
3. For Project Management
It’s hard to track the progress of a project when team members are in different parts of the city rather than in the same board room. Who’s working on what? Who needs support where?
We use Trello as our digital whiteboard to map out all the phases of our projects and to assign tasks to ensure everyone knows exactly where their focus needs to be. Clarity is key!
In addition to streamlining your workflow, don’t forget to keep the development of your team front of mind.
We have some digital tools to help you with that.
